C. Phillip McWane Chairman

Phillip McWane is the Chairman of McWane, Inc. in Birmingham, Ala. Mr. McWane joined the company in 1980 and has held a number of management positions, including Executive Vice President and President. He has served on the board of McWane, Inc. since 1986. He is a graduate of Auburn University.

Mr. McWane currently serves on the Board of Directors of McWane, Inc., the National Bank of Commerce and Children’s Hospital of Alabama.

He is a member of the Downtown Rotary and Leadership Alabama and serves on the boards of PreSchool Partners Advisory Board and the Birmingham Business Alliance Executive Committee.

He and his wife, Heather, have three children.

G. Ruffner Page, Jr. President

G. Ruffner Page, Jr. has served as President of McWane, Inc. since 1999. Mr. Page joined the company in 1993, working in the area of mergers and acquisitions. Prior to coming to McWane, he held management positions at National Bank of Commerce from 1989 to 1993, the Remington Fund from 1986 to 1989 and Bankers Trust Company in New York and Atlanta.

Mr. Page currently serves on the boards of directors of McWane, Inc., Southern Research and the National Bank of Commerce.

He is a member of the Downtown Rotary, Leadership Birmingham and Leadership Alabama.   He serves on the Boards of the Birmingham Airport Authority, Birmingham Education Foundation, the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Page graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, with a B.A. in philosophy and psychology with a minor in economics. He is also a 1986 graduate of the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in Charlottesville, Va. He and his wife, Penny, have three daughters.

Kevin Bense Group President-Waterworks

Kevin Bense joined McWane, Inc. as Group President-Waterworks in 2018. Prior to joining McWane Bense served for five years as president of A.J. Oster, a division of Global Brass and Copper Holdings. Previously he served as the vice president and general manager of the company’s Somers Thin Strip division. From 2007 to 2011, Bense served as a global business leader for Honeywell International, Inc.'s specialty additives business unit. Prior to that he served in various domestic and international executive, marketing and management positions of increasing responsibility in the chemicals industry. Bense holds a degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Arne C. Feyling Vice President/General Manager, Kennedy Valve/M&H Valve

Arne C. Feyling has served as VP/GM of Kennedy Valve and M&H Valve since 2010. Mr. Feyling joined the company in 1995 and has served in various positions and locations over the years. Prior to coming to McWane, he held management positions with Rockwell International in Mishawaka, Ind., and Citicorp Venture Capital/ACP Belcher Corp. in Easton, Mass.

Mr. Feyling currently serves on the board of directors of Southern Tier Economic Growth, the Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology (AM&T), and the United Way of the Southern Tier of New York.

Mr. Feyling graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He is also a 1997 graduate of the Syracuse University Whitman School of Management in Syracuse, N.Y.

Harrison Bishop Executive Vice President, Fabricated Metals Group

Harrison Bishop joined the McWane family of companies in 2015.  Since starting, he has served in various leadership roles at McWane operating companies in the fire suppression industry.  Mr. Bishop manages the Fabricated Metals Group, which manufactures products for the fire suppression industry as well as pressurized vessels for propane storage, air receivers and other uses.  The Group includes 1,500 team members spread across multiple production plants and distribution centers world-wide.  Prior to joining McWane, Mr. Bishop was a shareholder of the law firm of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C. in Birmingham, where he specialized in corporate and tax law.  Mr. Bishop serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the McWane Science Center in Birmingham.

Mr. Bishop graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Concentration—Finance), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law with a Juris Doctorate, and the New York University School of Law with an LL.M. (Master of Laws in Taxation).

Michael Keel Senior Vice President of McWane, Inc. and President of McWane Global

Mr. Keel joined McWane in 2004 as Senior Vice President Compliance and Corporate Affairs. In 2007, Mr. Keel was promoted to Senior Vice President of McWane, Inc. and President of McWane Global.  Before joining McWane, Mr. Keel most recently served as Executive Vice President of Operations at United States Pipe and Foundry Company and before that was President of Sloss Industries.

In addition to his role at McWane, Mr. Keel is President of the Sloss Furnaces Landmark board and Vice President of Sloss Furnaces Foundation board.  In addition he serves on the boards of the Alabama India Business Partnership (2015 President), the Norwood Resource Center, and Steward Machine Company.

Mr. Keel is a graduate in mechanical engineering from Duke University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Alabama. He also has an M.B.A. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Mr. Keel and his wife Karen have one son and live in Birmingham.

Michael Hannum Vice President, Health and Safety

Michael (Mickey) Hannum joined McWane, Inc. in 2018 as vice president, health and safety. Hannum has extensive experience in implementation of safety programs, increasing employee engagement, injury prevention, risk reduction and compliance.

Prior to joining McWane, Hannum served as audit and advisory manager at Koch Industries for four years. Prior to that he served as global EHS & engineering director for Reichhold Inc.  Hannum earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology and Occupational Safety from Illinois State University. He also earned the designations  Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), and Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA). 

Lynn Lovelady Vice President & Chief Information Officer

Lynn Lovelady joined McWane, Inc. as Vice President and Chief Information Officer in 2018.  Lynn’s career in technology spans 33 years and includes 12 years with the Department of Defense and most recently 20 years at Energen where he served as Vice President of Information Technology since 2011.

Lynn currently serves on the board of directors for TechBridge Alabama, Jacksonville State University Annual Fund, and the University of Alabama Culverhouse Cyber Executive Board of Advisors.

Lynn earned a bachelor of science degree in Computer Information Systems from Jacksonville State University.

Kevin F. McCarthy Vice President, Human Resources

Kevin McCarthy joined McWane in 2014 and is responsible for leading the Human Resources function across the organization.  He brings more than 30 years in driving results in all facets of human resources including strategic planning, organizational development, performance management, employee relations, compensation, benefits, recruitment and internal communications.

His career prior to McWane includes leading the human resources function at corporate, divisional and plant levels in large manufacturing companies in multiple industries.  He has led Human Resources activities in food (Russell Stover Candies, Keebler Company), private-equity organizations (Wolverine Tube, O’Sullivan Industries) and in two divisions of United Technologies Corporation (Carrier, Fire & Security).  He has led successful efforts in merger & acquisitions, labor negotiations, plant start-ups and organizational re-structuring. 

Kevin earned a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Communication, both from James Madison University.  He also carries the designations of SHRM-SCP and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

He lives with his family in Hoover, Alabama.

Charles F. Nowlin Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Charles F. Nowlin has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of McWane Inc. since 2004. Previously, he served as Vice President and Controller from 1991 until 2004. Since joining the company in 1980, Mr. Nowlin has worked in corporate accounting for McWane, Inc., including the areas of financial accounting, acquisitions, taxes and pensions. From 1977 to 1980, Mr. Nowlin worked at Coopers & Lybrand in the Birmingham office on the audit staff.

He is a member of the board of directors of Florida College in Tampa, Fla., and also serves as the treasurer.  He also serves on several local boards and advisory councils.

Mr. Nowlin is a 1976 graduate from the University of Alabama in Birmingham with a B.S. in accounting and earned his C.P.A. certificate in 1979. He lives with his family in Birmingham.

Jeff Otterstedt Senior Vice President, Pipe Division

Jeff Otterstedt has been the Senior Vice President of the Pipe Division since 2011. Prior to 2011, Mr. Otterstedt was the Vice President/General Manager of Clow Water Systems in Coshocton, Ohio., a position he held from 1999. Mr. Otterstedt started his career with McWane at Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company in 1992. From 1995 until 1997, he was the Plant Manager of Canada Pipe Company in Hamilton, Ontario.

Mr. Otterstedt is an active member of Ohio Cast Metals Association and served on the board as trustee, vice president and president from 2000 through 2010.

Mr. Otterstedt graduated from Texas A&M University in 1991 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering and from the Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1995 with a M.B.A.

Mr. Otterstedt and his wife live in Granville, Ohio, with their two sons.

James M. Proctor, II Senior Vice President and General Counsel

James M. Proctor, II serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of McWane, Inc. Mr. Proctor joined the company as general counsel in 1995.  Prior to coming to McWane, he was a shareholder of the law firm of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, PC in Birmingham, where he specialized in commercial litigation.

Mr. Proctor serves on the boards of Manufacture Alabama Iron and Steel Council (Vice Chairman); Cornerstone Schools; Workshops, Inc. (providing life skills and job training for the handicapped and disabled); the Business Council of Alabama; the Freshwater Land Trust (Chair-elect); the Cahaba River Society; the Boy Scouts of America, Greater Birmingham Council; Mt. Brook Athletics (Past Chairman and President); and the Norton Board of Advisors, Birmingham-Southern College.

Mr. Proctor was named to Law & Politics' List of Alabama Super Lawyers and Birmingham Business Journal's Who's Who in Law and Accounting 2006.

Mr. Proctor is a member of the American Bar Association (recipient of Andrew Hecker Memorial Award, past member of Council and Financial Officer of the Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section); the Alabama State Bar Association; Association of Corporate Counsel; Birmingham Inns of Court; Leadership Birmingham; Project Corporate Leadership; Canterbury United Methodist Church; and the Downtown Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Proctor graduated from the University of Virginia in 1981 with a B.A. in history and economics and from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1984, where he was an editor of the Alabama Law Review and a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board.

Jitendra (Jeet) Radia Senior Vice President of Environment, Safety and Human Resources

Jeet Radia has been with McWane, Inc. since 2003.  He has more than 30 years of technical and management experience in assisting industrial manufacturing firms with a wide range of environmental, health and safety and sustainability issues. He brings particular expertise on environmental and sustainability concerns related to metal casting operations and processes.  Before joining McWane, Mr. Radia was a consultant providing senior level technical and regulatory assistance to industrial clients on a variety of environmental, health and safety issues.

Mr. Radia earned a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Industrial Metallurgy and Management from the University of Aston, Birmingham, England.  He is a registered professional engineer and a Certified Industrial Hygienist.

As a recognized expert in the environmental area, Mr. Radia is a frequent speaker at national, state and local conferences, seminars and training courses on environmental issues.  He is Chairman of the Air Quality Committee of the American Foundry Society and serves on the board of the US Green Building Council’s Alabama Chapter.

Kurt Winter Executive Vice President

In his current role, Kurt Winter manages the Plumbing Group Division with plants in California, Texas, Missouri and Quebec, Canada. With more than 1400 team members, the McWane Plumbing Group Division is the world’s manufacturing leader in drainage, waste and venting products for the commercial plumbing industry.

Mr. Winter received his B.S. from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1989 and his master's degree from Cornell University. He currently resides in Lafayette, Calif., with his wife Lisa and five children.
